Why this exists
Naples, middle of summer, this afternoon. Four and a half miles on foot in the heat, dripping with sweat, my wife asking me somewhere around mile three why on earth we collect these things.
Got there. Bought the Naples mug. There was an Italia one sat next to it. I stood there trying to picture our shelf at home, decided we already had that one, and left it.
Back on the ship, my kids told me we haven't got it. So it is gone now, unless I pay three times the price online. After four and a half miles. And it is not the first time.
That is the whole problem. Not that I forget what is on the shelf — that I could not check while stood in the shop with the thing in my hand. Every app I tried wanted me sat at the kitchen table. Nobody built the one you need at the till.
Nobody else wanted to go. She had wanted the luxury trip along the Amalfi coast, which we had done before. The kids wanted another day round the pool. I wanted to bring another memory home instead — the sort that pays you back on a wet Wednesday in February, working at the kitchen table, when the cup in your hand is Naples in the middle of summer.
They all love them once they are home, mind. Family and friends round, you put the coffee on, somebody turns their mug over and asks where that one is from. Twenty minutes later everyone is talking about their holidays. That is what these are actually for. Not the shelf. The conversation.
So this is the thing that keeps the story attached to the mug, instead of leaving it to memory. Because today is going to be one of them.
So this is me building the one I wanted. It works offline, so it works in the shop. If you collect these too, tell me what is wrong with it and I will actually fix it.

Been there lights up every country you have brought one home from, and separately every one you have actually stood in. It is usually a smaller number than people expect, and a lot more satisfying to grow.
Write down the trip
Stories is for the date, who you were with, and what you remember. Takes a minute per mug. In ten years it is the part you will be glad you did.

Your collection is yours
No account needed to tick off your collection — that all saves straight to this browser, which is why it works with no signal. Clearing your browser would wipe it, so there is a Log in tab at the end of the menu where you can either make it follow you across devices, or just back it up to a file.
An account also lets you keep photos of your own mugs and see what other collectors paid. Both need somewhere to live, so with an account your collection is stored on a server as well as here. Nobody else sees your photos unless you offer one for the shared catalogue, and nobody sees what you paid unless you say yes when asked.

The one thing here that costs money
Everything above is free and stays free. The only thing we sell is a postcard made out of a trip you have already logged — your photo on the front, the story you wrote on the back, the place and the month already printed on it.
£1 as a file you keep, or £7 printed on card and posted to a UK address with a blank envelope. You do not have to buy one to use any of this.
Spares and wants
Find somebody with the mug you are missing
Publish one you can spare, publish one you want, and the board tells you where the pairs are. Nothing is published until you tap publish on that exact mug — the rest of your collection stays yours.
How a trade works here
- You publish one mug at a time. One you have going spare, or one you are hunting. Only that mug is visible — never your collection.
- You tap ask. They see the mug and your handle. Not your name, not your email, not where you are. It works both ways — you can chase a mug you want, or offer one to somebody hunting it.
- They say yes or no. If they say no, nothing happens and you are not told who they were.
- ⚠ We do not email you. A red number appears on the Trade tab when somebody has asked, answered, or is waiting on you to confirm. You will only see it when you open the app — so look in every few days, and give people the same patience back.
- Only if you both say yes do you swap one contact method each — the one you chose yourself.
- You arrange it between you, wherever you like. Swap it, sell it, post it, meet up — entirely your business. We never carry the message, never see it, and never take a penny.
- Both confirm when it is done. That is what builds your completed count, and it takes both of you.
Before you start — the honest bit
CollectMyTrip is not part of your trade. We are a notice board. We do not check members, hold your mugs, take payment, insure anything, or take a cut.
Any trade is between you and the other person, entirely at your own risk. We are not a party to it and accept no responsibility for what is sent, what arrives, or what does not.
Sensible things people do: post tracked, photograph the mug and the base before it goes, keep the conversation somewhere you can look back at, and start small with somebody new. Never send money to a stranger for a mug you have not seen.

No shame in it, they are deliberately similar. Pick one up, look at the base, then feel how thick the wall is. Thirty seconds and you will know exactly what is sat on your shelf.
Help us get this right
This grouping is put together from public collector knowledge, and collectors know it better than we do. Some series overlap, some regions got their own runs, and a few never went on general sale at all. If something here is wrong, say so and it gets fixed.

What happens to your spares
Nothing yet, and I am not going to pretend otherwise. Marking a spare does not list it anywhere, and nobody else can see it.
Matching people up is the next thing being built — you have a spare Prague, somebody two hundred miles away needs one and has the Lisbon you are missing. When it comes, neither of you will ever see the other's email address, and not a penny of what you agree passes through this site. We do not buy, sell, or hold a single mug, and we never take a cut of a trade.
It only works if the spares are already logged. Mark yours now and you are in it from the first day it opens.

Something here look wrong?
Wrong series, wrong country, a mug listed that was never made, a name spelt badly. The list is put together from public collector records and it will have mistakes in it. You know these better than we do.

Not everywhere you have been. Everywhere you cared enough to carry something home from. The number always comes out smaller than people guess, which is half the fun of watching it climb.

Real prices, from real purchases
Everything published anywhere else is what sellers are asking. This is what collectors here have paid. They are not the same number, and the gap is the whole reason this exists.

Add what you paid below and this fills in. It is your own figure, so it is the one number here we can stand behind today.
How a price gets here
Two different collectors have to have recorded buying it. Below that it says nothing at all — one price is one person's receipt, not a market, and it would identify them. Most mugs stay quiet for a while, which is the honest way round rather than the impressive one.
Prices also sit beside the name in My mugs, including on mugs you do not own — which is the point, if you are stood in a shop holding one. Nothing is averaged across currencies, and where two collectors disagree wildly it says so rather than splitting the difference.
Your own prices are only ever included if you said yes when asked, never with your name attached. Change your mind any time on the Log in tab. The longer version.
What you paid
Tap a mug to put in what it cost you. It opens on the ones you have not done yet, so the list gets shorter as you go.
The story behind each one
Who you were with, and what you remember
Somebody picks up a mug, turns it over, and asks where that one is from. This is the screen that means you can actually answer. The heat, the walk, who moaned, who paid. Write it while you still have it.
And it is not just for looking back. A month you enter here is what turns into a trip on the map — the pin, the photo, and the card you can send somebody. No date, no card. This is where that starts.
Filter by who you were with, sort by when you went, or give a trip a rating out of five. Tap any mug to write or change it.
The ones still waiting
Every mug here was somewhere you actually stood. The ones without a story are the ones where only you know what happened, and only for now.
Why it is worth the minute
Go and look at the oldest mug on your shelf. Now say the month. Most people cannot, and it is not a bad memory — nobody writes it down at the time, because at the time it is obvious.
Who you were with goes first, and it goes quietly. The mug stays. The place stays. Who was stood next to you in that shop is the part that fades, and it is the part you will want back.
That is why the month and the who have boxes of their own. They are the two things a shelf genuinely cannot hold, and the two nobody thinks to record until it is too late to.
What a filled-in story already gets you

Built from these boxes and nothing else. The date, who you were with and what you remember are what write the back of the card for you. Nothing to type twice.

Both are built from these same boxes. There is no clever way to fill them in afterwards — a blank stays blank. The trips you skip are the ones that quietly do not make the book.

Without an account everything is saved in this browser and nowhere else. Clear your history or change phone and it is gone. Back it up and it never can be — the same file loads straight back in.
Why we keep you signed in
So the app works where you need it — stood in a shop, holding a mug, deciding. Being asked for a password at the till defeats the entire point of it.
Staying signed in stores a token in your browser. That is the only thing we keep on your device, it is not used to follow you anywhere else, and Log out above clears it whenever you want.
Delete my account and everything in it
Your collection, your notes, your want list, your email address. All of it, gone, and not recoverable.
Email hello@collectmytrip.com from the address you signed up with, asking us to delete your account. It is done within 30 days and usually within a few. You get a note back confirming it, and you do not have to give a reason.
A one-tap button is being built. Until it exists the email route is the real one, and it works.

A trip you have already logged, turned into a real postcard
Your photo on the front. The story you already wrote on the back, with the place and the month printed under it. Nothing to design and nothing to type twice.
Two ways to have one
A file, from £1. Drawn on your own phone and saved straight to it, front and back. Nothing is emailed and nothing is uploaded. UK, United States and Canada.
Printed and posted, from £7. Six by four, 280gsm gloss, printed both sides, with a blank envelope so you can send it on to whoever was stood next to you. Postage included. UK addresses only for now, because posting one card abroad costs more than the card.

What is missing, what is wrong, and what you want building next
This is one person building it, not a company with a roadmap. Everything on this site started as somebody saying they wished it existed. The magnets people keep asking about got on the list exactly this way.
Say anything
A mug that is missing or listed wrong. Something that does not work on your phone. A feature you keep reaching for and it is not there. A product you would actually buy. Or just tell us it is rubbish and why.
You do not need an account and you do not have to leave your email. Leave it only if you want an answer back.
What actually happens to it
It is read, and it is counted. Requests for things we do not have get tallied, and when the same thing crosses roughly twenty separate asks it gets properly costed rather than argued about.
Counted is not the same as promised. Some things will get built, some will get a straight no with a reason. What will not happen is your message vanishing into an inbox nobody opens.

What we hold, and what we do with it
Last updated 3 September 2026. If this ever changes in a way that matters, the date changes and anyone with an account is told.
CollectMyTrip is run by one person, in the UK. There is no advertising on this site, nothing is sold to data brokers, and there is no tracking of you across other websites. What follows is the detail behind that.
Who is responsible for your data
CollectMyTrip is a trading name of Simon Dennis, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. He is the data controller and is legally responsible for the information described here.

If you do not make an account
Your collection lives in your own browser, on your own device. It is never sent to us and we cannot see it. Clearing your browser data deletes it, and we cannot get it back for you — which is why there is a backup button.
If you do make an account
Your collection is stored on a database in London so it can follow you between devices. That means we hold it, and in principle it can be read by the person who runs the site. We do not browse it, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with anyone.
What is stored:
- Your email address, and a password we never see in readable form
- Which mugs you have marked as collected, spare or wanted
- Any notes, dates and names you choose to write against them
- The date you joined and the date you last synced
- Any photos you add of your own mugs, stored on Cloudflare. The location your camera recorded is stripped out before the photo ever leaves your phone
- Whether you said yes or no to sharing what you paid, and the date you answered
We do not ask for your real name, your address, your date of birth, or your phone number. Cards are paid for through Stripe, who handle your card details directly — we never see or store them.
Buying a card
Payment is taken by Stripe, and a printed card is produced and posted by our printer, Prodigi. Making a card sends your chosen photo to Prodigi so it can be printed — it is deleted the moment the order is placed, never used for anything else, and never added to the catalogue. A digital card is drawn on your own phone and never leaves it.
Personalised goods, like a printed card carrying your own photograph, are exempt from the 14 day right to cancel once you have been told that before buying, which this page and the shop page both do. There is a short window after ordering where we can stop it — email straight away if you picked the wrong photo — and if a card arrives wrong, damaged or badly cropped we reprint it free and you send nothing back.
A digital card is yours the moment you download it, and downloading it ends the 14 day right to cancel on that purchase — you are asked to confirm you understand this before paying, and nothing is pre-ticked.
What you paid, and the choice you get
You can record what you paid for a mug. That is yours, and by default it goes no further. It shows on your own collection whatever you decide here.
The first time you record a price we ask a plain question: can we include it, anonymously, in what other collectors see? Nothing is pre-ticked and no answer is assumed. Saying no changes nothing about how the site works for you.
If you say yes:
- Your name is never shown and never stored against a price. There is no way to trace a figure back to you
- Nothing is published unless at least two different people have recorded buying the same mug. One price is one person, and one person is identifiable
- Only counts and ranges are shown, never your individual figure
- Currencies are never mixed together
- Only people with an account can see any of it. It is not on the public site
You can change your mind at any time on the Account tab. Turning it off removes your prices from what other people see, not just future ones.
Why we are allowed to hold it

Staying signed in
If you log in, a token is stored in your browser so you are not asked for a password every time. That is not for tracking — it is so the app works stood in a shop, holding a mug, where being asked to type a password would defeat the point of it.
Log out in the app clears it. No cookie banner appears on this site because nothing here is used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Netlify is based in the United States, so some data reaches there. It operates under recognised safeguards for transfers out of the UK. Nobody else receives your data, and it is never sold.
Analytics, and what we deliberately do not do
Visits are counted with GoatCounter. It records the page, the rough country, and where the visit came from. It uses no cookies, does not build a profile of you, and cannot follow you to other websites.
There is no Google Analytics, no Facebook pixel, no advertising network, and no third-party tracker of any kind on this site.
How long it is kept
Your account and collection are kept for as long as your account exists. Ask us to delete it and it is gone within 30 days, usually within a few days, including from routine backups within a further 30 days.
If you unsubscribe from emails, we keep a record of your address on a suppression list so we do not accidentally email you again. That is the only thing kept afterwards, and you can ask for that to go too.
Your rights, and how to use them
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- Show you everything we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete your account and everything in it
- Send you a copy in a file you can take elsewhere
- Stop using it in a particular way, or withdraw your consent to emails
Email hello@collectmytrip.com from the address you signed up with. You do not have to give a reason, and it is free. We answer within 30 days.
If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you told us first, but you do not have to.
Deleting your account
Email hello@collectmytrip.com from the address you signed up with and ask. Everything goes — collection, notes, want list, email address — and it cannot be recovered afterwards.
A one-tap button is being built. Until it exists, the email route is the real one and it works. Want a copy of your collection first? Ask in the same email, or use Back up my collection in the app before you write.
Children
This site is not intended for children under 13, and accounts must not be created by them. If you believe a child has made an account, tell us and we will delete it.
If something goes wrong
If data held here were ever exposed, anyone affected would be told directly and promptly, and the Information Commissioner's Office would be notified where the law requires it. You would hear it from us, not find out later.

What this is
A free tool for keeping track of souvenir mugs you own, where you have been, and the stories behind them. The tracking itself is, and always will be, free. Digital and printed postcards made from your own photos can be bought separately, paid through Stripe and, for printed cards, produced by Prodigi — see Buying a card above for what that means for your data.
The catalogue will contain mistakes
It is assembled from public collector records, and it is not complete or perfect. A mug being listed here is not proof it exists, and a mug missing from here is not proof it does not.
Entries are marked Verified, Listed, Member added or Disputed so you can see how much weight to put on each one. Found something wrong? Tell us — that is how it gets better.
Prices are guidance, never a valuation
Any price shown is an observation — what other collectors here have recorded paying, or what similar items have been advertised or sold for elsewhere. It is not a professional valuation, it is not an offer, and it is not advice. Do not rely on it alone for insurance, probate, tax, or deciding what to pay or accept.
Mug prices move with condition, variant, region and luck. If money matters, get a proper valuation from a qualified valuer.
We are not part of any trade between members
We do not buy, sell, hold, ship, vet, insure, or take a cut of anything. If the site ever introduces two members to each other, what you then agree is entirely between you — including price, postage, condition and what happens if it goes wrong.
Take the same care you would with any stranger online.
Your account
- Keep your password to yourself. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you
- You must be 13 or over
- Do not upload anything that is not yours, or anything unlawful, abusive or misleading
- Do not scrape, bulk-copy or resell the catalogue
- We can suspend an account that is being used to harm other members. We will say why
What you write stays yours
Your stories, your notes and your photographs belong to you. By putting them here you allow us to store and display them back to you so the service works. We do not claim ownership, we will not publish them elsewhere without asking, and deleting your account removes them.
Nobody's brands but their own
CollectMyTrip is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any retailer, manufacturer or brand. Series and product names are used only to describe collectable items, and all trade marks belong to their owners.
No promises about uptime
This is a free service built by one person in evenings and weekends. It may be unavailable, it may change, and it may contain errors. Back up your collection. The button is there for a reason.
Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury, or fraud — the law does not allow that and we would not want it to.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes are dealt with by the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, this does not take away rights you have under the law of the country you live in.
